Problem

Managing parking lots often creates issues such as long wait times at exits, human error in billing, and difficulties in handling large volumes of cars. Traditional systems lacked smooth integration between cameras, payment terminals, and parking records, leading to inefficiency and poor user experience.

My Solution

To solve this, I designed a Parking Management System with a user-focused approach:

  • Automatic license plate recognition at entry and exit points.

  • POS integration so attendants can quickly select the right bill from a real-time list of cars approaching the gate.

  • A manual search function for license plates if the camera misses an entry/exit.

  • An error reporting and tracking feature in the POS for smooth troubleshooting.

  • Clear vehicle status categories (In Parking, Exited, Unidentified) for better reporting and analytics.

Results & Impact

  • Reduced payment and exit time by streamlining the car-to-gate process.

  • Improved accuracy and transparency of billing by integrating real-time data with POS systems.

  • Enhanced usability for attendants with simple search and error-handling options.

  • Provided management with better reporting and insights into visitor flow and capacity usage.

  • Delivered a scalable, intuitive design system that can be adapted for different parking facilities.
